Posting Rules

What you can and cannot post on LISTLAH, and how to write a listing that sells.

Last updated

These Marketplace Rules keep LISTLAH useful, safe and legal in Singapore. Every listing must follow them. Our automated checks and moderators apply them before and after a listing goes live, and repeated or serious breaches can lead to account limits or suspension under our Terms. Paid promotions do not change these rules.

1. The basics

  • One item, one listing. Do not post the same item again to push it up: edit it, renew it or use Bump Lah.
  • Right category and area. Choose the category that fits and the planning area where the item actually is.
  • Real and available. List only things you are entitled to sell and that are available now. Mark them sold when they are gone.
  • Honest price in S$. Show the real price in Singapore dollars. Do not enter a fake low price such as S$1 to appear first.
  • Accurate details. Describe the condition honestly, including faults. For vehicles, give the real registration year, mileage and COE expiry.
  • Selling professionally? Use a business account. Bulk or near-identical listings are not allowed.

2. Photos, title and description

  • Use real photos of the actual item. No photos copied from other listings or websites, and no watermarks or contact details over someone else's photo.
  • Make the title describe the item, for example "IKEA MALM dresser, 6 drawers, white". Not "URGENT!!! CHEAP!!!".
  • Keep contact details in LISTLAH chat or the contact fields. Do not put phone numbers, links or "WhatsApp me" in the title or description.

3. Not allowed

You may not list or promote:

  • anything illegal to sell, own or import in Singapore;
  • firearms, airsoft guns, gel blasters and replica or imitation guns, ammunition, explosives, fireworks and firecrackers;
  • knuckle dusters, flick or butterfly knives, stun guns, tasers, pepper spray, telescopic batons and other offensive weapons;
  • controlled drugs, cannabis and CBD products, kratom and drug paraphernalia;
  • vapes, e-cigarettes and their parts and e-liquids, heated tobacco products, and duty-unpaid or contraband cigarettes;
  • counterfeit, replica or pirated goods ("1:1", "AAA", "master copy", "mirror quality");
  • stolen goods, and government-issued documents such as NRICs, passports, licences or vehicle number plates;
  • bank accounts, ATM cards, Singpass accounts, SIM cards registered to someone else, or "account renting";
  • unlicensed moneylending, gambling services, pyramid schemes and "money-making" offers;
  • hacking services, malware, stolen or shared accounts, and personal data;
  • signal jammers and radar detectors;
  • protected wildlife and their parts, such as ivory, pangolin or rhino horn;
  • human organs, blood or body parts;
  • sexual services or sexual content, and content that is hateful, discriminatory, threatening or defamatory.

4. Allowed only with care (listings are reviewed)

  • Medicines and health products: only general-sale items. Prescription-only medicines, injectables and "slimming" products from unknown sources are not allowed (Health Sciences Authority).
  • Pets and animals: must follow the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) rules; dogs and cats only from licensed sellers where a licence is required. No wild or protected species.
  • PMDs and e-scooters: must be UL2272-certified and meet LTA rules. Non-compliant devices are not allowed.
  • Drones: must comply with Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) rules.
  • Alcohol, coloured contact lenses and event tickets: only where the law and the event organiser allow; tickets at face value or less unless resale is permitted.
  • Property (only the owner or a CEA-registered agent, with the agent's registration number) and jobs (must follow MOM rules and the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices; never ask applicants for fees): these categories open later.

5. Behaviour

  • No deposit scams: never ask for payment before meeting, never send payment links, and never ask anyone for OTPs or Singpass codes.
  • No fake reviews or reports, no harassment, no price manipulation and no bait listings.

6. Reporting a listing

If a listing breaks these rules or looks like a scam, use Report on the listing or seller profile, or contact us. Read our Safety tips to spot scams.
